Established in 2002, Castle Nursery in Shamley Green is a welcoming 39-place rural day nursery situated within the grounds of Wonersh & Shamley Green Primary School. The single-storey building offers full disabled access and features two well-equipped rooms, one for under-twos and one for over-twos, each designed to meet the developmental needs of the children in their care.
Both rooms have direct access to the outdoor play areas, where children can build towers in the construction area, pour and scoop in the sand and water area, or curl up with a story in the cosy area. The over-twos benefit from free-flow access between indoors and outdoors, with a sensory area, mud kitchen and a canopied creative area. A large loose-parts zone and a variety of gross-motor equipment on a new safety surface further enhance opportunities for physical play and exploration.
The nursery is fortunate to have a beautiful woodland environment nearby, attracting local wildlife and providing a perfect setting for our Forest School sessions. Here, the children can explore and experiment following their curiosity and ideas in a natural environment. We also have a nursery allotment that is a vibrant, hands-on learning space, where children can plant and grow their own fruits, vegetables and herbs. From sowing seeds to harvesting produce, the allotment supports learning across the early years curriculum, while also promoting sustainability.
Children enjoy a diverse range of extra-curricular activities, including Music and Movement, Baby Sensory, Toddler Yoga and Sports. These sessions support physical, emotional and cognitive development in fun and meaningful ways.
Our dedicated team of longstanding staff is at the heart of our nursery community, with many members having been with us for several years. We offer families continuity, stability and a wealth of experience.
