Shamley Green Nursery

Castle Nursery in Shamley Green opened in 2002. We are a 39 place rural day nursery situated in the grounds of Wonersh & Shamley Green Primary School.

We have a single storey building with disabled access and two equipped rooms, one for the under two’s and one for the over two’s. We have direct access into the outdoors areas from both rooms with the over two’s having free flow indoors and outdoors access to a digging area, growing area, mud kitchen, sand and water play.

There is also a large sand pit, role play house, a variety of gross motor equipment on a safety surface area. We are fortunate to have a woodland environment nearby which encourages a variety of wildlife into the area and a forest school, where the children can explore and experiment following their curiosity and ideas in a natural environment.

Our Management Team

Jess Smith, Manager

Jess is a qualified childcare professional with vocational qualifications in childcare and a degree in leadership and education. Studying and practising in nurseries since leaving school, she has been a member of our nursery team since 2010 and a manager since 2015.

Her ambition to care for and educate young children is driven by her passion to have a positive impact on their lives by providing them with powerful play experiences which engage a child’s imagination and curiosity to explore – to create ‘thinkers and do-ers’ in their early years.

Hannah O’Riordan, Deputy Manager

Hannah is a qualified childcare specialist with considerable experience caring for all ages in early years before gaining management skills in her current role.

She developed a passion for early years childcare and education supporting her own family’s children, with a desire to help them learn as they grow. Years later Hannah has experience and insight to help children make crucial early bonds and attachments and promotes child-led play using the children’s natural curiosity to explore their environment independently.

Natalie Chrystie, Operations Manager

As the Operations Manager for Childcare And Learning Group, Natalie has responsibility for supporting and developing the nurseries and pre-schools within the group.

Natalie is a qualified childcare specialist with over 40 years experience working in the childcare industry including many years running individual nurseries for the group. Leading a senior team of three regional managers and a special projects manager, she ensures that nurseries have the facilities, support and training required to meet the group’s own high standards for best practice in childcare.
