Shamley Green Nursery

Castle Nursery in Shamley Green opened in 2002; we are a 39 place rural day nursery situated in the grounds of Wonersh & Shamley Green Primary School. We have a single storey building with disabled access and two equipped rooms, one for the under two’s and one for the over two’s. We have direct access into the outdoors areas from both rooms with the over two’s having free flow indoors and outdoors access to a digging area, willow den, growing area, mud Kitchen, sand and water play. There is also a large sand pit, role play house, trim trail and a variety of gross motor equipment on a safety surface area. We are fortunate to have a woodland environment nearby which encourages a variety of wildlife into the area and a forest school, where the children can explore and experiment following their curiosity and ideas in a natural environment.

    I qualified as a nursery nurse in 1998 and then gained a B.Ed. (Hons) in Early Years Teaching in 2008 and Early Years Professional Status in 2009. I carried on to train and qualify as a Forest School Leader in 2012 and then developed and led the Forest School programme at Shamley Green, which I continue to lead today, in addition to my role as Manager. I have been at Shamley Green now for many years, initially as a Deputy Manager from 2003 and then taking over as Manager in May 2016

      I joined Castle in 2014 as a nursery practitioner at South Hill. In 2016, I transferred to Shamley Green where I was promoted to Room Leader and Third in Charge. Then in September 2017, I was promoted to Deputy Manager. In September 2016, I commenced studying for a Degree in Early Years and Education. In October 2018 I gained a qualification in teaching Toddler Yoga and run weekly sessions which I am incredibly passionate about. I take great pride in my Deputy Manger role and every day I enjoy providing and promoting the highest quality care for all children in my setting.

        I began my career in childcare in 1991 when I came to England from Serbia to be an au-pair. I thoroughly enjoyed working with children and decided to gain formal childcare qualifications and completed the NNEB Diploma in 1996. Since then I have worked in a variety of settings, mainly in supervisory/ managerial roles and these include crèches, holiday play schemes, day nurseries and children’s centres. I obtained my BA (Hons) Degree in Early Years and Leadership in 2014 and have since then progressed in my career working as a Senior Manager and Area/ Regional manager roles; supporting, advising and coaching managers. I joined Childcare & Learning Group as Regional Manager in August 2018 and am really looking forward to working alongside senior management, managers and their teams. For the Castle group of nurseries, I am the Regional Manager directly responsible for our Markenfield and Shamley Green settings.
