Shamley Green Nursery

Castle Nursery in Shamley Green opened in 2002; we are a 39 place rural day nursery situated in the grounds of Wonersh & Shamley Green Primary School. We have a single storey building with disabled access and two equipped rooms, one for the under two’s and one for the over two’s. We have direct access into the outdoors areas from both rooms with the over two’s having free flow indoors and outdoors access to a digging area, willow den, growing area, mud Kitchen, sand and water play. There is also a large sand pit, role play house, trim trail and a variety of gross motor equipment on a safety surface area. We are fortunate to have a woodland environment nearby which encourages a variety of wildlife into the area and a forest school, where the children can explore and experiment following their curiosity and ideas in a natural environment.

      JessManager- Shamley Green
I joined Castle Nursery in 2010 as an Early Years Practitioner, working my way up to Room Leader and Third in Charge. In August 2015 I was promoted to Manager at South Hill, then in August 2020 I commenced by current role as Nursery Manager of our Shamley Green setting. I have studied childcare since leaving school and I have thoroughly enjoyed implementing my knowledge at Castle Nursery. I achieved my CACHE Level 3 in 2009 and I was awarded a BA Honours degree in Leadership and Education in 2014. It has always been my ambition to educate and care for young children, having a positive impact on their lives. It was my school work-experience at a Special Needs School that inspired me to begin my enjoyable and rewarding career in Early Years, which I take pride in every day.

My present role as Regional Manager for Childcare & Learning Group, follows the journey of my career starting with Cranbrook Nursery & Preschool, where I first joined Buttercup Barn in May 2000 as a Nursery Practitioner. I then moved to Ivy Cottage as a Deputy Manager and in 2002 I became the Manager. I transferred to Clover Court Nursery in 2010 and at the start of 2018 reached out to London’s Working Mums’ East Sheen nursery where I supported during a transition between managers. In August 2018, I was appointed Regional Manager for Childcare & Learning Group. My interest in early childhood education began when I was 13 years old, having completed a school work experience in a Nursery. From that point, I knew I wanted this to be my career and to make a difference in the start of a child’s life. I have a BA Hons in Childcare and Education.
